How I got into this – The Solar Industry!

My name is Sebastian Bauer and I am a 23 year old just starting work in the solar industry. Before entering the industry I had a very basic understanding of renewable energy in all of its forms; I knew what a solar panel was, I knew that it was used to power everything from single homes to entire manufacturing facilities, and that everyone was saying …

 “Solar is the Future!”

However, I had no idea just how little I knew until I stepped foot on my first project. Prior to my life in solar, I worked as a supervisor for Whole Foods during the week and on the weekends I had a small video production business with a friend of mine. Building large scale solar farms was something I never envisioned myself doing with my life, I always thought I would expand in the film industry or find work otherwise in my hometown. Becoming part of Sunstall has been one my greatest life altering experiences which has opened my mind to all the different possibilities and opportunities which this industry has to offer. It has given me the opportunity to turn a job into a calling, from a distant idea to a true passion.

Being a millennial,

I had been told my whole life by the media, teachers and elders that “the world will end” unless we cut down on fossil fuel usage, so naturally I aspire to leave this world better then when I got here. Solar, to me at least, is one of the more practical approaches to carbon reduction and I expect to see the industry grow to a global standard on energy production throughout my life. At this point in our society it is an absolute must. I view this positively on my personal life as well and my business life because the more solar there is, the more business and work opportunities there are in the world resulting in less financial hardship for those in the industries circle of influences. Also, in my travels I have noticed many people’s curiosities are sparked at the sight of a solar installation, you see their eyes glow and when they find you are involved they bombard you with questions. This proves to me that humanity is ready for such a change and confirms that I have chosen the correct path in life.
