Solar Highway
Adjacent to farm fields on one side and a safety rest area on the other, the Baldock Solar Station is a 1.75dc Megawatt solar array at the French Prairie Safety Rest Area (formerly Baldock), south of Wilsonville on Interstate 5 in unincorporated Clackamas County. The 6,994 panel array sits on about seven acres of ODOT property on the east side of the northbound rest area, producing approximately 1.97 million kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable, homegrown energy annually.
Construction
Construction began in early August 2011 and the project was placed into service – connected to the grid – just a few months later on January 17, 2012. Today, people can drive through the safety rest area to view the solar highway project and its solar energy interpretive display, bordered by a sustainable community garden.

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to, and share my positive thoughts regarding our interactions with
Sunstall Inc. In July 2011 were finally given a notice to proceed. We contacted Sunstall, and were pleasantly surprised when Heiko and Helge were able to give us a quote that was extremely competitive. We were somewhat skeptical as to whether they could mobilize from California, obtain and Oregon contractor license, ramp up for construction and complete the task
in the time allotted. I am pleased to say that Sunstall met all of the obligations, and performed better than expected. They were able to finish the pile driving and racking assembly ahead of schedule, and did so maintaining the highest quality standards. Should the opportunity to work with Sunstall arise in the future, I will not hesitate to contact Helge or Heiko. I am confident they will provide the best results for the greatest value.
